Message from Eddie Jones
With England’s Pool C match having been called off due to Typhoon Hagibis, England now face Australia in Oita in the quarter-finals on Saturday 19 October (KO 8:15am BST, live on ITV) having finished top of the pool.

Eddie Jones:

“The Japanese have a saying ‘Shouganai’ – we can’t control it. Although we all like to think we’ve got power above and beyond what’s going on in the world, we don’t. These things happen and you just ride with it.

So, after a three-day camp in Miyazaki we are in Oita to prepare for the quarter-final.

This is a wonderful Rugby World Cup and we are all excited. We have been given an opportunity. Who would have thought we’d have two relatively easy games, one tough game and then two weeks to prepare for a quarter-final.

We do really feel for the thousands of England fans in Tokyo for the game because it would have been a special occasion. We are lucky to have such great supporters and I’m sure they, and all our fans back home, are all very disappointed.”
Rise and Shine
Great activities continue to take place nationwide. These include the event held for students from five schools at Stourbridge RFC to coincide with the England v USA game.

In addition, this week’s featured photo was taken at the third annual RAF Girls Festival of Rugby which was held on 6th October at RAF Halton, and celebrates the RAFRU centenary year. More than 1,000 U13s, U15s and U18s girls from local rugby clubs enjoyed a fantastic event supported by the RAF Rugby Union Women’s team.

We continue to post loads of interesting posts on England Rugby’s social media channels and it’s great that the nation continue to be behind the squad. #CarryThemHome

National Rugby Survey
The National Rugby Survey is open until the end of October. We’ve already had a positive response, with match officials, current adult players and club officials being the most proactive.

So far, respondents have ranked a sociable and friendly atmosphere after the game as the number one factor in creating an enjoyable rugby experience, do you agree?
