This season we will again have two squads of 30 players, but this year for four A & B fixtures (outlined above). Pre-Match Training and Matches will take place on the same days, with the possibility of additional Unit-based training sessions taking place also in the run-up to the match.
A strict time window for receipt of nominations is necessary this year & will be enforced, so please submit your nominations within the timeframes below:
Nomination window: September 16th to October 14th 2019.
Please complete the CLUB Player Nomination list as well as the...
Player Nomination Form for all nominees, whether they were part of the U15 Squad last year or not, and return to Gareth Lewis, Hampshire U16 Team Manager, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Due to the potential numbers involved (last year at U15’s we trialled over 200 boys) we will be holding two trial sessions: Fri. 25th October & Sun. 27th October 2019. This (hopefully) may be reduced to one if numbers permit.
The U16 Coaching team will also be out and about across the County to watch and assess nominated and potential new players during their Club & School League & Friendly fixtures. This may result in their pre-selection and remove the need to attend a trial. Pre-selected players will be notified via the Hampshire RFC website so please check the website regularly for updates.
Remaining nominees not pre-selected will be invited to attend one or other of the two trials (if needed), providing their nomination was received within the strict time window.
Please ensure that any nominations you submit are only for those players you have identified as suitable candidates to represent the County and beyond.
Last season’s Trial and subsequent selection outcome should act as a guide to the suitability of your potential nominees.
Your support in assessing players prior to nomination will help ensure that trials will be meaningful, manageable and players are given enough time to show their ability and avoid unnecessary disappointment.
Players who are successfully selected for either squad will be asked to attend some additional organisational /set piece training sessions, as well as a pre-match Friday night team run. This will ensure that we have enough time to work on unit skills, as well as team play.
We look forward to receiving your considered player nominations.
Kind regards,
Gareth Lewis Malcolm Osborne
