Friday Night Under Lights Is Back for both for Men’s & Women Adult Players
Building on the success of last season Hampshire RFU and the England Rugby Community team will once again run a series of ‘Friday Night Under Light’ evenings. We continue to learn and increase the numbers of players participating in these enjoyable evenings. Our key learning from last season:
- ·Promote the event as a cross field game played on half a pitch
- ·Run a parallel event for the women players
- ·Number in teams will be dependent on number of players that turn up – we normally play with between 8-11
- ·Organise events in the early part of the season
- ·Do not organise too many. (Less is more)
With this in mind, we will run two events at Eastleigh RFC before Christmas. The club have recently had new floodlights installed on a second pitch so we will run a parallel women’s event also
Dates & Venues:
- ·11thOctober Eastleigh RFC
- ·8th November Eastleigh RFC
Aim of the Evenings: Please remember that the aim of the evenings is to help our clubs retain, recruit and engage players and provide social rugby:
- ·Re engage those players that are not able to commit to regular training and Saturday Rugby
- ·Provide more game time for the developing
- ·Help players transitioning from touch rugby to contact rugby in a safe and controlled environment
- ·Parents that coach their children that have little or no playing experience
- ·Provide opportunity for Parents to play with sons & daughters / friends to play together
Referees / Medical: The England Rugby Development team will referee games and a qualified first aider / physio will be present.
Remember a Complementary Pint or Softie plus Food: will be provided for all those that play
Entries: I/C in charge of teams if you would be good enough to confirm numbers to me for the first event no later than 1600 Tuesday 8th October this will enable me to make arrangements with the club, first aid staff and volunteers that will assist on the evening.
