Fordingbridge Rugby Club made history yesterday when 4 members of the same family took to the field together.


Chairman David Timms joined sons William 23, George18 and Marcus17 in a second team clash against Tottonians 3rd team who are notably 2 leagues higher.


The game got off to a good start and Fordingbridge elected to take advantage of a strong tail wind.


Pinning the visitors back it wasn’t long before Jack Griffiths went over the linefor a fifth minute try giving Fordingbridge the lead. The home team grew in confidence and by half time Dean Lewis, Will Timms, George Timms and Tyler Rogers had all added to the score.


Totton fought back early in the second half and claimed two tries of their own before Jack Griffiths added a 6th for the home and with Zac Butlerconverting 5 out of the 6 tries,Fordingbridge sealed the game with a 40 point to 12 victory.


Whilst the youngest member of the family Marcus Timms didn’t add to his brothers tries he did claim man of the match,a great start to his senior playing career.

David said,”The club is proud of its family orientated ethos and over the years has had several occasions where father and sons have played together”.”Our mini’s and youth sections are very strong and adding players all the time to our mainly home grown squads”.
