Middlesex U16 V Hampshire U16

Merchant Taylors’ School 21st January 2018

Fortunately the snow had turned to rain for the KO although it was still cold. Despite the weather the pitch was in good condition and held up well during the game.

From the start Middlesex were sharp and determined were as Hampshire struggled to get in to the game.

In the first minute Middlesex put together a fast flowing attack which resulted in their first try.

This set the scene for the first half. Hampshire failed to get any rhythm to their game and a combination of poor handling and missed tackles kept them on the back foot for the whole of the first half. Middlesex went in to the break 22 – 0 up.

The second half was more of an even game with Hampshire putting together several phases in their attack.

After 10 minutes Middlesex scored again but this was quickly followed by Hampshire going over in the corner.

For the rest of the half Hampshire continued to press, forcing Middlesex to concede a string of penalties, but were unable to turn the pressure in to points.

Final score Middlesex U16   27   Hampshire U16   5
