The U14s took on Middlesex at both County and A sides at Basingstoke RFC 20th March.

Hampshire County XV v Middlesex County XV

Both County sides started nervously with errors on both sides. As both sides settled down it became apparent Hampshire were more comfortable with ball in hand. Middlesex played a more power game and pressurised for long periods but good defence and small errors helped Hampshire keep a clean sheet. Hampshire’s more expansive game enabled them to exploit the space and run in 9 trys.

Final score:  Hampshire County XV 59 – Middlesex County XV 0

Try scorers:-  Murray Dare, George Davis, Ben Kay, Harvey King, Joe Knowles, Rory Le Good, George Prentice, Toby Reid and Josh Wise.

Conversions:-  Javon Dry 2 and Josh Wise 5

Hampshire County A v Middlesex County A

Hampshire A started strongly scoring 2 quick trys. The Hampshire forwards provided plenty of good clean ball allowing the backs lots of space to work in. They also fought hard at the breakdown disrupting much of the Middlesex ball. For most of the game Middlesex struggled to cope with the Hampshire backs and ended up conceding 10 trys.

Final score:  Hampshire County A 64 – Middlesex County A 0

Try scorers:- Ash Chirima, Tom Clayton-Smith x 2, Alex Cole, Jamie Cook, T Jay Jefferies, Josh Lambrou, Rory Le Good, George Lorimer and Harry Phillips,

Conversions:- Rory Case 7

Although Hampshire scored highly in both games it was really pleasing to see that neither Middlesex teams gave up.

They all continued to play hard right up to the final whistle.
