Trojans A have joined Havant at the top of the Hampshire RFU Colts League Cup Division as the previously unbeaten Hooks Lane side suffered a heavy defeat at Winchester.

The Stoneham Lane side scored six tries in defeating Jersey 36-15 while Winchester A trounced Havant 37-5 to move within eight points of the leaders with a couple of games in hand.

Trojans stretched their legs in the second half after being held 10-10 at the break – Mike Shepard-Williams and Kai Traynor crossing for the hosts before Joe Tilstone and Alex Cotton responded for the Channel Islanders.

Wesley Chiromo, Sam Webb, Ed Connolly and Charles Boulton ensured there were no such troubles for Trojans in the second period – Connolly adding three conversions.  Tilstone added a second to his tally for Jersey only response.

Winchester A made amends for their National Cup knockout defeat to Havant by running in five tries to one, with Harry Johnston the star of the show with a total of 17 points to his name.

He scored a try and added three conversions and two penalties to add to Harry Arthur, Henry Gibson, Josh Moore and Theo Hughes’ tries for the home side.  James Hutton scored Havant’s only points with a try.

It was an outstanding performance from the Black and Golds, who move to nine points in the table but have games still to catch up on so will be a threat to the sides at the top.

Havant have clung onto top spot but only by virtue of their narrow points difference advantage.

There was just one match played in the Bowl Division due to the sodden pitch conditions around the county and it was a massive victory for the league leaders Tottonians over their nearest rivals New Milton and District.

Totts opened up a 10-0 first-half advantage through tries from Ben Thorne and George Vasey but were pegged back by the Foresters when Finley Wood and Ollie TIndell crossed to level the scores after the break.

But up stepped George Lee midway through the second half to fire over the crucial winning penalty for the Water Lane outfit to give them a four point cushion at the top of the table while New Milton move up to second with the losing bonus point.
