With now less than 100 days to go the Rugby World Cup the Trophy has begun its tour of the British Isles


It will be in the Hampshire Constituent Body Area between 26th Aug & 28th Aug

The Webb Ellis Cup is coming:  With 42 days to go the Rugby World Cup Trophy has begun its tour of the British Isle and it will be visiting Eastleigh RFConWednesday 26th Augustfrom1100-1300

To give the day a special flavour Eastleigh RFC are inviting local businesses and organisations to participate in a ‘Touch Rugby World Cup’ festival.  

Teams will be made up of six players + 2 Subs, and each team will be drawn represent one of the 20 World Cup Sides.

The club will also host a Junior/Mini/ Midi Pitch up and play Touch Rugby event. All the Kids need to do is “Just turn up and play”!

We are so delighted to have the Webb Ellis Cup visiting Alresford and being available for all to view on our magnificent new pitches. 
What better way could there possibly be of celebrating the completion of 'Pitches in Alresford'.
The programme of events is still evolving but basically it is a case of:
  • Turn up with your trainers
  • Have a fun time playing rugby themed games/activities
  • Take a 'selfie' with the Webb Ellis Cup to treasure for the rest of your life.
Thur Aug 27th at Portsmouth

On Thursday 27 August Portsmouth has the great pleasure of hosting the official Rugby World Cup trophy as it tours the country ahead of the tournament which starts in September.


To mark the occasion we are hosting a Festival of Rugby at HMS Temeraire which will feature young people from the city and local area coming together to play some rugby and see the trophy.

The day's events are being run by a partnership of the Royal Navy, Royal Navy Rugby Union, Rugby Football Union, Hampshire RFU, University of Portsmouth, local rugby clubs, Portsmouth School Sport Partnership, Portsmouth City Council and England 2015 who are organising the whole trophy tour.

All of the partners have a strong history of working collectively to develop the sport locally.



8.45am - Spinnaker Tower - Lord Mayor of Portsmouth & representatives from local rugby clubs 


9.30am - HMS Victory - representatives from Royal Navy, Royal Navy Rugby Union, RFU, Hampshire RFU, Portsmouth City Council, University of Portsmouth,


10.15am-1pm - HMS Temeraire - trophy will be on display for participants in the Festival of Rugby and members of the public


10am-12.30pm - Tag Rugby Festival for 8-11 year olds


12noon-3pm - Junior Touch Rugby Tournament featuring local clubs
